Very interesting historical sight. Was worth the drive.

OMG awesome got chills on every mound. It's not for the short winded it's quite a walk but if you have any love for the native people of this land you will love the trip. This rating is for the outdoor part of pension mounds the museum needs alot of work to be as awesome as the walk

My wife and I love history, this is an excellent place to visit and learn about the local native American history while enjoying a nice walk/bike in the fresh air. They have many different paths and all of the mounds are clearly marked and you get a bit of history through the plaques designating the mounds and the different areas used in the lives of the people that lived there. Be prepared to walk several miles if you want to see everything and they even have a few scenic walking trails through the woods that are great for hiking(off limits to bikes). Bikes are encouraged however on the main trails which are made of asphalt and there are bike racks set outside the areas that they are prohibited. There are multiple benches in the mostly shady areas of the trails and offer a great place to rest before heading on. There is a small boardwalk that looks out over a small river/ditch that is fun when it's been raining for a few days. Watch our for snakes in the spring in summer however.

This used to belong to my Great Uncle Johnny Sauls. He and Aunt Coma sold it to the state in 1967. I'm impressed with the way the state has fixed it. I wish there was a way to get down to the old pond where the well is running. I remember that Uncle Johnny said you just couldn't get to it. I never tried it. It looks pretty snaky. I remember that the mound used to be called Murphy Mound. I know that my Dad said the kids used to climb it and play in the hole at the top of it. Anyway. Keep up the great work. Glad to see the trees were cut down off of the big mound. It looks much better.

The main area of the park has a museum which is shaped like a mound and contains native American artifacts found in the region and also play areas and picnic areas for children with covered gazebos and school yard style play equipment. The best part about this park is that it is free and the largest mound is about 100 yards from the museum and features a "lookout tower" of sorts at the top which offers great views of the surrounding area. All in all it's a great experience and the park is well maintained except for some of the stairs made of wood on some of the nature trails which are not paved and can be treacherous.

I have lived in this area my entire life and still enjoy walking around the park
